The Lamdin Organ (2004)

The Lamdin Organ was installed in S. Alban's in the summer of 2004. It was the generous gift of Margaret Lamdin in loving memory of her late husband John, whose house organ it was. It was one of Peter Collins' first instruments, though he never completed its construction, the work being finished by Slater. It is used primarily for the performance of early repertoire such as Gibbons, Purcell, Gabrieli and Monteverdi, though is also used for later repertoire such as Mozart and Alain. It also fills the role of 'petit orgue' for the Masses of Langlais, Vierne, Saint-Saens and other works by Widor and Dupré. Though it is a small extension instrument, S. Alban's excellent acoustics mean it can be heard clearly throughout the building.
